Are You Invisible?

Do you ever feel invisible? That you are there in a group, yet not seen? Where other’s voices seem to rise higher than yours, and you wouldn’t even be remembered for being there?
As I was getting ready for the day today, I suddenly felt this spirit of invisibility waft over me. I say” spirit” because it just subtly came upon me and turned my usual positive thoughts into one of a bit of despair and emptiness, almost as if I’d been hit in the stomach.
Frankly, it surprised me, as I’m usually quite positive. But as I know that I often get inspiration at this time of day for writing or speaking, I paid attention to it and asked God what this was and from what root this spirit came.
In order to feel invisible, you would have to believe lies about yourself. These lies would include things like “you are not worthy,” “you don’t deserve to be heard or seen,” “what have you got to say that’s important,” “other people have more valuable things to say than you,” “no one’s paying attention,” “they don’t want to hear,” “you’re not the party girl or life of the party or charismatic,” “just be quiet and be a good girl,” and so on. Just demeaning tearing-down untruths about you or your potential future.
Liar, liar, pants on fire! That’s what we used to say as children when we knew they were speaking something about us that was not true. Shake off those lies about who you are at the core. Tell the devil you know he’s the one trying to bring you down and just ignore him. Replace those thoughts with God’s truth about you, and the vision he’s placed in your heart about who you are becoming.
God sees you, he loves you, he knows the intimate details about you and you are never alone. You, in fact, are the apple of his eye. Therefore, any thoughts like the former must be from the father of lies, the devil himself. (See reference at John 8:44)
Why? He knows you have a powerful message inside and wants to silence it, to trick you into believing no one sees you or hears you, that you are not valuable, worthy or deserving of attention and especially not God’s attention. “Who are you that God could use you in a mighty way?” Wow! What a huge and blatant lie! Satan would keep you playing small and not daring to step out on faith to where God is leading you. His aim is to destroy you and leave you powerless, paralyzed by fear and false beliefs.
Those thoughts coming from “who am I?” answered by the wrong person could certainly disempower anyone and keep them stuck and on a downward cycle. When I thought about where those thoughts and subsequent emotions could lead, I felt even the spirit of suicide could come upon someone in this state of mind if they continued to dwell on them. “After all, what’s the use? If no can see or hear me and I’m not valuable, why even bother?” That could be the follow-on thoughts one could assume, if they listened to those ever-growing pack of one lie after the other. Wow again!
It’s time to shake off those thoughts, to spit in the devil’s face and to stand boldly on the promises of God for your life! See the liar for who he is, but more importantly, let that go and see YOU through God’s eyes of love. When you get the answer to your “who am I?” question from the right person, your Creator, the answer is uplifting, encouraging and empowering. So make sure you’re listening to the right voice and the truth about who you really are!
I’ve put a few verses at the end for you to sew into the fabric of your spirit today to strengthen you and combat the enemy so he no longer can gain even a toehold over your thought life.
Today you get to choose LIFE! “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love and of power and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7
Don’t be tricked by the wiles of the devil or the deceitful hidden thoughts that are against you and not FOR you.
