Breakthrough To Your Story

We all have stories. Some are finished and ready to tell, but there may be other stories we’re still in the middle of. Places in our hearts and lives where the truth is not yet revealed to us and the blessings on the other side are waiting to be discovered.

Perhaps you have a story waiting to be written. You may be in one of these scenarios:

  • Maybe the hero (you), is one who used to be in a great place but somehow got lost and detached from giving their true gifts and now is wandering around in a bit of a daze.
  • Or perhaps life got in the way of your dreams and you’re wondering if your “Someday” will ever come.
  • It could even be that the traumas or tragedies of life threw you for a loop – dashed your dreams and visions of your future, turned you inside out, left you stunned and shaken – and you’re feeling far from functioning on a normal day, never mind envisioning a future you can hardly remember dreaming about.

You may be ready for a breakthrough to break out and experience the lessons and gifts that come from your story. Once you get through to the other side, did you know that your story can become a blessing to others, as you choose to give it and share it?!

Think of all the others who have inspired and encouraged you with their stories from lessons learned through hard times. How much has that benefited you? If you feel a stirring to write, speak, share, encourage others, you may be in the middle of writing your story, your talk, your book, your blog, or your wisdom principles.

In the meantime, if you’re needing a breakthrough, try this exercise on for size. This may sound strange, but if you truly want to get through whatever you’re dealing with now, try it and see how it works for you. You’ll thank me later!

  • Begin by thanking God that he is with you in this season. He knows what you’re going through and it is not a surprise to God. Whatever the world or the devil can throw at you, God has a bigger plan to use this to strengthen you and to be a bigger blessing in your life than you can imagine. I know that may sound hard to believe right now, but take whatever tiny seed of faith you have and believe it is true. God is a good God and a loving Father to you. Even good fathers don’t solve all the problems for their children, so their kids can grow up mentally, morally, emotionally and spiritually strong, right?. Trust your Heavenly Father in this!
  • As strange as it may sound, there is a GIFT in this. Look for what the gift(s) could possibly be by having to go through this. Jot it/them down as they come to you. Once you are through this season, it will become more clearly evident.
  • While you are thanking him for trusting you enough to go through this with his help, and to connect with the blessings from this as quickly as possible, start writing every day about what you are thinking and feeling and experiencing. This will be important for later.
    • Be sure to document your progress, any twists and turns that occur, and coincidences (I like to call these God-incidences), along with life lessons and truths you see, about yourself or life or God.
    • Write as if you are writing a bestselling novel and know the heroine well! People want to know what she is thinking, feeling, and doing, and how she is reaching out for help to get her through this situation. They are rooting for her!
  • Along the way, pray deep honest and even gut-wrenching prayers. Speak directly to God your Father, to Jesus, to the Spirit asking for what you want. God hears your every heart-cry. He knows your pain, yet he also knows the end of your story and all the blessings he has for you in and through and at the end of this challenge. He will stay with you to love and comfort and guide you. Listen to him – prayer is a dialogue – do what you feel his Spirit prompting you to do. Above all, pray through to peace.
    • Pray and ask for insights and how God wants you to pray. Then ask who you need to forgive, and proceed to forgive everyone involved including yourself. That can take some time and insights, but trust God to bring it to you and ask for his help to receive it. Your healing and blessings are on the other side of forgiveness.
    • Once you’ve forgiven all those you can, release them and the situation and your emotions to God. Allow his love and grace and peace to come in and fill up your heart, body, mind, and spirit. Breathe in his blessings and peace and breathe out any toxic thoughts or feelings until you feel nothing but the peace of God in your heart and filling your being.
  • Now take time to rejoice and remember who God made you to be. Put on some praise music and do a little dancing! Get your body engaged, if you can. Even just wiggle a toe or finger if you’re health challenged at the moment. It’s important to make the connection from the mind to the body, so the physical you gets the message that it’s all good.
  • Read God’s Word about who he says you are and the good promises of abundance and blessing he has for your life. Declare his truth about you OUTLOUD! This part is important too. Getting your mouth and mind and ears and eyes involved with the truth about yourself help you to totally transform from the inside out. You can even read the 23rd Psalm aloud and put your name in there. Claim all those promises and life and blessings for you. God’s Word is a love letter for YOU! So, believe it and receive it into your heart and soul.

Continue this routine on a daily basis, or as often as needed. Notice your wins and write them down. Notice God’s promptings in your spirit. Write them down as you act on them. Document those results. Guard your heart, your mind and your mouth to only speak Truth about who God says you are. Truth about what God says about your situation. He’s got this and he will bring blessings out of it. Trust that and declare it.

Now get started writing YOUR BREAKTHROUGH STORY! God wants to be the Hero in it with you…
